Most people can easily identify themselves as a mountain, beach, or city person. When asked which I prefer, I realize that I’m not most people.
This is often followed by a (well-deserved) blank stare accompanied by an awkward pause. And sometimes, I get the “I don’t think you understood my question” squint and head tilt.
My explanation is brief; in the spring, summer and fall, I love trips to the mountains and the beach. The rest of the time, my heart belongs to the city. Specifically, the best city in the world–New York City.
Here are a few images from my most recent jaunt. Yes, I played tourist for the day. Just enjoy the photos.
Grand Central Station at dusk.
Brooklyn Bridge Park on an epic 8-mile run through Manhattan and Brooklyn.
The best way to get intimate with this amazing city is to run it. I almost lost it when I approached this spot. Un. Fucking. Real.
The magical, grungy, and rickety-as-hell Manhattan Bridge.
“That is like. So New York.” – Tourist
Lights! Paper! Booze! Fun fact: this photo was re-posted on Instagram by NBC 4 NY. #ZackWonNYE
Tough to beat this view on NYE.
It was cold. I was bored. It looked cool…
Blowing off some steam
A quiet conversation in a city of chaos.
New York provides all the spirituality I need.
New York is inconvenient, crass, imperfect, and so fucking obnoxious. But that’s exactly what I love about her.
The best, the biggest, and the brightest in all the world.
I know. It’s blurry. But the colors are pretty.
Take it all in. Even the steam from the underbelly of a concrete metropolis.
OMG ESB NYC
Someone should start a Tumblr that consists of shots of people taking photos from the Top of the Rock.
Cliche. I know.
